Get to know who we are and what we believe

What We Believe – Our Statement of Faith

1. We believe the bible to the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Peter 1:20-21 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

2. We believe that there is only one God, eternal existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 14:16-17; Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 6:4)

3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and his virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutive and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.

4. We believe that lost and sinful man must be saved, and that man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Romans 3:23 and 1 Peter 1:18-19)

5. We believe in the biblical view of marriage as a sacred covenant, ordained and instituted by God- the lifelong union of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33)

6. We believe that all gifts of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to lead a godly life.

7. We also believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are valid for today, and we allow them to be exercised “decently and in order.”

8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and unsaved they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation. (Daniel 12:2)

9. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (1st Corinthians 12:12-13). This church will observe regularly the two New Testament ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These ordinances are observed in obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ, as acts of love and devotion, and are not to be considered necessary for our salvation.

How We Function

We are a Christ-centered church fellowship, open to everyone, both Christians and non-Christians alike

We have no formal congregational membership. We encourage all Christians attending to be active in ministry, exercising their talents and spiritual gifts as we serve together in Jesus’ ongoing work and witness through us in the world.

Elders appoint Ministry Leaders to oversee Discipleship, Outreach and Worship responsibilities. These leaders report to the Pastor. (Children’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Worship Ministry, Youth Group and Home Groups)

All administrative Ministry Leaders are appointed by and report to the Pastor (Finances, Hospitality, Sound and Ushers)

All individuals seeking to serve in ministry leadership positions, and anyone serving in discipleship or outreach ministries must complete and submit a Ministry Application Form and agree with the Statement of Faith at Northgate Ministry.

We seek to empower people to follow God’s call on their lives for ministry. This can be through volunteering in our established ministries or through talking to an Elder to see how we as a church can support their calling.
